A Quick Tour of 'Julie' (N4261J)

Pulled the fuel tanks out yesterday... unfortunately my mechanic and I both seriously underestimated the amount of fuel remaining in them... I had a small rag with me to sop up what I thought would be only a few drops of fuel in the fuel line... the second I unscrewed the connection though, There was a GUSH of 100LL (100 octane low-lead avgas)... all over my arms, clothes, and the landing gear... I think I turned relgious for a few moments there 'please no spark... please no spark'... Once I got a bucket in place, we found almost 2 gallons of fuel still in the system... Also note, despite some of the planes 'homily appearance' elsewhere, not a single bit of corrosion here... This is where Julie shines- while her cosmetics are less than pleasant in several obvious places... She's 100% corrosion free and spotless where it counts. The rest of the stuff is easy to fix. 6/17/06 7:51 PM
